True North Driveway
Local stormwater codes required permeable driveways. The existing permeable asphalt driveway was clogged with no means of restoration. Excavation revealed only a 4" permeable base and compacted dense graded subbase. PICP allowed expanding paved area by 33% yet control and reduce runoff in an ecologically sensitive area.
The homeowner enjoys expanded parking area and much improved curb appeal. The compass rose is the centerpiece of the project, and design elements have been repeated in subsequent phases. The system can handle a 3-4" rainfall, and overflows are rare.
This project was a HNA Awards recipient.
